Teachers at Masibambane College writing about each other’s character strengths
On Monday last week, I launched the first full-school Flourishing School program in South Africa at Masibambane College in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg.
This amazing school is home to more than 1000 students and is about to graduate its first matriculants, who opened the school as Grade 1 pupils 12 years ago.
Masibambane’s fabulous headmaster, Pieter Steyn, is keen to help his faculty and students thrive in every way. They already have a solid academic program in place, and The Flourishing School will be helping them build on the non-academic skills — character strengths — that each individual already has in abundance. These are the strengths like kindness, optimism and perseverance that build better relationships with others, help us achieve more and make us feel good.
